IBM can't seem to figure out what it wants to do with R. While all the other major databases have either built (or announced) PL/R clone implementations, run R routines from SQL statements in the database, IBM is supplying an ODBC-like connector which executes some R functionality in DB2. But this is still garden variety R to database connectivity. To quote Dan Le Batard in the ¿Sí o No? segment, "Are you impressed?". No.
Despite what the reactionaries assert, the world is not flat nor is it hierarchical. The world is relational. Infinite granularity yields infinite complexity.

In a time of SSD, multi-core/processor, two terabyte memory and Optane App Direct Mode machines, there is no reason not to
build from BCNF data. Time to do what Dr. Codd demonstrated. Technology has finally caught up with the maths.
